Question

Assalamualaikum,

May Allah Almighty grant the team of Jum best recompense for assisting the ummah.

Wish to inquire considering “ Breaking family ties” are their exception for it, for instance , during Ramadan for iftaar whole family brothers and sisters in laws etc gather and daily arrange a great amount of iftar, full thirty days, the time of invocation And tilawat of holy Quran is forgotten and instead is spent in kitchen and later instead of taraweeh it is spent in washing dishes ,cleaning etc .... if Politely even try to make them understand, parents silence the later by saying it is aPLEASURE! So if one member does not participate in any of it, rather remain secluded n engage in tilawat and supplications and wish to permanently separate ones living quarters,( with intention of meeting once in a while ) will The person be sinful for breaking ties. Or what would be practical in this kind of situation.

Jazakallah for guidance.

Answer

Wa alaikumus salaam

One should not be present where something against Islaam is going on. So if his / her absence from such a meeting leads to breaking family ties so he / she is not to be blamed. The person has done what he should do.
