who is an alim? can i become an alim i go for islamic classes? is it if i learnt smth i teach it its like a learned person.

Commonly speaking an Aalim is a person who have studied the principles of tafseer, principles of hadeeth, principles of fiqh, arabic language and studied sihah sittah and other books of hadith under qualified asaatizah (teachers). At this stage the concerned person is illegible to study the books of deen by himself. Normally the duration is six or seven years. Now its upon you to see if you can do it.
