Assalamu'alaikum respected ulamas. Normally I buy journals at home. However there are photos and images on the journal. Is it permissible to keep journal at home then? And If there are photos of relatives at home but they are not displayed (there are kept in a drawer), is this OK?

Wa alaikumussalaam warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh

According to the Hadith, the angels of Rahmat do not enter a house in which there are Tasweer (pictures of animate objects). Many of the ulama consider photography to fall under the category of Tasweer as well. Therefore, one should not keep these photographs in the house although they are not displayed and one should endeavour to dispose of them as soon as possible.
