Al-Azeez

Al-Azeez refers to a Being who possesses "Izzah". Izzah means power, dignity and grandeur. Thus, Al-Azeez is the One who possesses power, dignity and grandeur. It is solely Allah Ta’ala who has real power and real dignity. All those who seem to have power or dignity in this world, have acquired it from Allah Ta’ala. People become dignified through the dignity that Allah Ta’ala has granted them. Thus, they must connect themselves to Allah Ta’ala. That is why people must not do things to be honoured in the eyes of people because honour and dignity lie solely in the hands of Allah Ta’ala.

The honour that a person receives from people is not a real honour. It is just like a kind of mirage. We must not remain in such a deception. Today, he may honour you and tomorrow the very same person can dishonour you. It all depends where his interest lies; in honouring you or in dishonouring you.

But no one can dishonour the one whom Allah Ta’ala has decided to honour. Likewise, the one whom Allah Ta’ala has decided to dishonour, no one can grant him honour. The honour that Allah Ta’ala bestows is real honour. It is like a natural beauty that does not require makeup to look beautiful. As for an honour that depends on the flattery of people, it is like a make-up that cannot render something ugly, beautiful. This is merely a consolation for that person itself who is made to believe that he is appearing beautiful.

Allah Ta’ala has informed us that He is Al-Azeez so that we may seek recourse with Him in all our problems. And for us to know that true honour lies in following His commandments. And so that we do not disobey His commandments just to have honour in the eyes of people. 

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said that Allah Ta’ala raises a group of people through the Qur’an just like He dishonours another group by the Qur'an itself. That is, the group that follows the Qur'an, is successful ones and the group that turns its back, is unsuccessful.

Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) said that if anyone wants to take another path other than Islam to get honour, he will only get dishonour.

In the light of all this, it is not difficult to know the real reason for what the Muslim community is going through!
