The Barakah of abstaining from sins

When a person abstains from sin, Allah Ta'ala gives him the will to do good deeds by creating the love and the willingness of doing this action in his heart. Once he gets this fervour or enthusiasm, it will be difficult to neglect good deeds just as it was difficult to do them in the beginning when he was immersed in sin.

Likewise, sometimes due to certain sin, Allah Ta'ala deprives one of a lot of good deeds. Often one sees that people who were very Deendaar, suddenly change their trajectory and leave everything. Later, one learns that they have fallen into vices. The person fell in love with someone who is taking up all his time or he got addicted to chatting on the internet or he got bad companionship.

Thus, sins blacken the heart thereby blocking the path to good deeds just as resistance against sins gives rise to such 'Nur' (light) in the heart that opens many doors of benefits and good actions. It is in this very sense that it is mentioned in a Hadith that the person who is more in Ibaadah is the person who abstains from sins more. And in the Qur'aan, Allah Ta'ala says: "And those who strives in our path, We will most certainly guide them towards Our path. And certainly Allah is with those who do good." (S 29: V 69)

When a person makes effort to remain in the obedience of Allah Ta'ala, he gets Allah Ta'ala as a gift. Therefore, resistance and abstention from sin make one acquire Allah Ta'ala. According to a Hadith, the one who becomes for Allah Ta'ala, Allah Ta'ala becomes for him.
