Al-'Azweem

'Azweem is derived from 'Azmat which means excellence and greatness. Allah Ta'ala is Azweem in the sense that He is beyond all imagination in His very essence. He is beyond all dimensions. He is excellent in everything. He is eternal. He has no beginning and He will exist forever. He is beyond all faults and defects. He has capacity over everything. He knows everything. Nothing is beyond His knowledge. He is incomparable in His essence and attributes.

Thus, that which can be expressed by saying Subhanallaah and Alhamdulillaah can be expressed by saying Al-'Azweem. That is Allah is excellent. If excellence in a talent or merit is a criterion to be admired, then Allah Ta'ala deserves it the most. If a person feels attracted to a talent, then he must be attracted to Allah Ta'ala who is the sole Creator of everything. Therefore, the greatest honour is to live for the pleasure of Al-'Azweem.
