Insaan and Insaniyat

Allah Ta’ala has created Insaan (human being) as "Ashraf-ul-Makhluqaat". That is, Insaan is the noblest creation. His nobility lies in his ability to distinguish between good and bad and his willingness to adhere to what is good by using his intelligence.

Allah Ta’ala has placed in Insaan the nature that allows him to live with affection and harmony with people and other species also. Due to the nature that Allah Ta’ala has created in him, he learns how to share in life. This quality of sharing distinguishes him from other species. It is the Deen that guides Insaan to live in the way that he should and according to the nature that Allah Ta’ala has created him. The amount of Insaniyat (human nature) that he will have in him will depend on the amount of piety that he will have. This means that a real Insaan is one who is very Deendaar. This leads us to understand that the further a person goes from Deen, the further he will be from Insaaniyat. When a person drifts away from Deen and allows himself to be contaminated and poisoned by negative elements that surround him, he reaches a stage where the Bahimiyyah (bestial character) controls his nature of Insaaniyah. At this stage, we see people in the form of humans but with characters of other species. This very same category of people is qualified as the most inferior of all creation by Allah Ta’ala.

"O Allah! Protect us all from this lowliness and grant us the will to follow Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) in order to find ourselves in the real dimension of Insaan.”
