Shabb-e-Baraa'at

Undoubtedly, Shabb-e-Baraa'at - the night of the 15th of Sha’baan or Lailat-ul Bara'at which is called “Suhuruat”, is a blessed night that contains many virtues and benefits. Some people have the guts and courage to say that this night is a normal night and that its virtues are based on fabricated or very weak Hadith. It is a claim that is based on ignorance as there are about 10 Sahaabah (Radiyallahu Anhum) who have reported Hadith regarding the virtues of this great night. Among them are Hazrat A’isha (Radiyallahu Anha), Hazrat Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu), Hazrat Abu Musa Al Ash'ari (Radiyallahu Anhu), etc. These Hadith were reported in the books of Hadith such as Musnad Ahmad, Ibn Hibbaan, Baihaqi, Ibn Majah, etc. It is true that certain Hadith which were reported concerning this subject, are very weak. However, certain hadith have been declared as Saheeh by the Muhhadditheen (experts of Hadith) such as Ibn Hibbaan, Al Baihaqi and AI Bazzaar. Moreover, according to the Usul (principles) of these same Muhadditheen, although these Hadith may be weak in themselves when considered individually, however, on the whole, they represent a strength. And at this point, these Hadith become Hassan (good / passable) which has authority in Deen.
