Qualifications required to be an Imam

Q. What are the qualifications required to be an Imam?

R. To be an Imam it is essential that a person be:

1. A Muslim 2. Sane 3. Major 4. Able to recite the Qur'an with Tajweed (correctly) 5. Healthy from any uzr (disease such as bleeding or dripping of urine in a continuous manner). However, such a person can make the Imaamat if all the Muqtadis are, Saahib-e-Uzr, that is, if they all suffer from the same disease as the Imam.
