Combing the hair in the 'afro' style

Q. Can I comb my hair in the 'afro' style?

R. The Hadith of our beloved Rasulullah (Sallallaahu A'laihi Wasallam) "He who imitates a people is considered as one of them" implies that imitation of others is forbidden. Therefore, the 'afro' style, being a hairstyle foreign to Islam, is forbidden. The prohibition of imitating others aims above all to preserve the Islamic identity in any field: whether it is fashion, behaviour, etc. It is even forbidden to drink from a 'flask' which in principle is reserved for alcoholic beverages, so that believers are not confused with the Fussaaq.
