Q. Is marital relations permissible during the nights of Ramadhan?

A. The fast begins at Sehri, i.e., from Subh-e-Saadiq (true dawn), and ends at sunset. Just as eating and drinking are prohibited during this period, so too is marital relations. However, from Iftaar—that is, from sunset until Subh-e-Saadiq—marital relations are permissible.

Indeed, in the Qur’an-e-Kareem, Allah Ta‘ala says:

"Permission has been granted for you to have marital relations with your wives on the night of the fasts." (2:187)
