Sajdah Tilawat after Salat-ul-Fajr and after Salat-ul-'Asr

Q. Is it permissible to perform Sajdah Tilawat after Salat-ul-Fajr and after Salat-ul-'Asr?

A. It is not permissible to perform any Nafl Salah during the following times:

  1. From Subh-e-Saadiq (dawn) until sunrise,
  2. At sunrise,
  3. At the zenith (Zawaal),
  4. After Salat-ul-Asr has been offered until sunset, and
  5. At sunset.

As for Qaza Salahs, they may be performed at any time, except:

  1. At sunrise,
  2. At the time of the zenith (Zawaal),
  3. At the time of Taghayyur (when the sun turns yellow shortly before sunset), and
  4. At sunset.

Sajdah Tilawat, however, can be performed at any time, even when Qaza Salahs are not permissible. It is advisable, however, to avoid performing Sajdah during the four prohibited times mentioned above. If Sajdah becomes Waajib at a time other than these, it will not be permissible to perform it during these four times either, i.e., when Qaza Salahs are prohibited.

Therefore, it is permissible to perform Sajdah Tilawat after Salat-ul-Fajr and after Salat-ul-'Asr.
