HIJRAH-EMIGRATION
The open propagation of the kalimah
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَّسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ
"There is none worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad (Sallallaahu 'Alaihi Wasallam) is His Messenger." This declaration raised the entire city of Makkah against him. As a result, he was mistreated. He, his wife, and all those who had accepted his message were subjected to severe trials, to the point where it became impossible for these adherents of Islam to freely practice the religion of the One Creator.
Day by day, the persecutions became increasingly cruel. The Prophet (Sallallaahu 'Alaihi Wasallam), witnessing the suffering endured by the Sahabah (Radiyallahu anhum), was overwhelmed with profound sadness. As a solution, he advised a group of believers to emigrate to Abyssinia—present-day Ethiopia—a country inhabited by Christians, whose ruler, the Negus, was renowned for his tolerance and justice.
This emigration (Hijrah) was intended to prevent bloodshed in Makkah and elsewhere. It served as a test for the sincere believers, as only those with true faith would agree to leave everything behind to preserve their Imaan (faith). This stands in stark contrast to some of us, who may abandon our Deen (religion) to safeguard our material interests and fleeting pleasures.
Later, in the thirteenth year of his apostleship, under divine guidance, the Prophet (Sallallaahu 'Alaihi Wasallam) instructed his Sahabah (Radiyallahu anhum) to emigrate to Madinah. This event occurred in the year 622, which marks the beginning of the Islamic era in world history.
