Execute our duty before claiming our right

"If I had to command anyone to prostrate before anyone (besides Allah Ta'ala), I would have commanded a woman to prostrate before her husband." (Tirmizi)

Explanation:

It is not permissible to make Sajdah to anyone. This is something which should be done solely for Allah Ta'ala. But if ever it would have been permissible, then a woman would have been allowed to do so for her husband. Through this, Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) wanted to draw attention to the right that a husband has over his wife. Just as there is an important lesson in there for women, in the same way, therein lies a great lesson which men should take. If through a simple contract of Nikah, a woman must have so much esteem for her husband, then how grateful must human be to Allah Ta'ala?

That is why before claiming our right from our wife, we should see if we have executed our duty towards Allah Ta'ala who has granted us everything. And if we blame our wife in regards to certain negligence, then how guilty should we feel when we disobey Allah Ta'ala day and night?
