Follow blindly

If you find someone who is very serious in Deen and who has got the opportunity and the honour to learn Deen under qualified Ustaad (teachers), then you must consider this a great favour from Allah Ta’ala.

Hunger, thirst and cure lie in the hand of Allah Ta’ala but Allah Ta’ala makes us use means such as food and medicine to meet our needs. Similarly, Hidayah is in the hands of Allah Ta’ala but Allah Ta’ala advises us to keep the company of our pious people in order to acquire it.

If you find someone of this calibre, you can even follow him blindly, if necessary. You will never be deviated. If you interfere with him, it is you, yourself who will be in trouble. What wrong is there if you surrender yourself in his hands just as you hand over your body on the operating table in front of a surgeon? Isn't it a type of trust that allows you to do this? What is the matter if you do it in regards to Deen? But you should never follow a blind person, be it blindly or with open eyes. Blind in Deen are those who did not have the honour of learning Deen under a qualified Ustaad. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong in following blindly those whom Allah Ta’ala has granted the Nur-e-Basweerah. On the contrary, without this methodology, there is no progress. To understand the meaning of Nur-e-Basweerah, this also requires spending some time in the company of qualified Ustaads.
