Akhlaaq-Tasawwuf

Allah Ta’ala

We must love Allah Ta’ala more than everything. When we say more than everything, it means more than our parents, wife, children, wealth, job, commerce and ourselves.

Life after death

When a child fills his stomach with all types of junk, he cannot eat what he should. When delicious foods are served to him also, he does not have any desire for it. And if he is forced to eat, he may vomit it.

Similarly, when a person fills his heart and mind with poisons such as pride, jealousy, etc., he dislikes good things. Allah Ta’ala said:

Ihsaan

Ihsaan is a stage where a servant does Ibaadah with a state of mind that he is actually / absolutely seeing Allah Ta’ala.

Take care of your government

Every person is a state, a government in itself. And every person is supposed to take care of his government at least. This government of a few feet by a few inches, which every individual possesses, contains his heart, eyes, ears, mouth, feet, hands, etc. To maintain harmony and stability in his government, every person must control these organs. Otherwise, he will be like the head of state who has lost control over his people. His interior will be overturned just as a state is overturned by anarchy or strife.

Enjoyment and suffering

If you rejoice in Dunya, you must expect to suffer in Aakhirah. And the one who has accepted to toil in order to obey Allah Ta’ala, must hope to rejoice in Aakhirah. It is up to us to choose where we prefer to enjoy and where we prefer to suffer. And at times, what we have to undergo, becomes tasty and delicious out of love and Muhabbat for Allah Ta’ala. Nonetheless, it takes a little time to attain this stage. It is not something that takes place overnight.

Acknowledge your mistakes

If you are still alive, it means that you still have time to acknowledge your mistakes and do what is necessary. Those, who have already left this world, have lost the opportunity that you still have. Now, even if they acknowledge their mistakes, it will not be of any use to them.

Zuhd

Zuhd is a quality that makes a person become disinterested in worldly things. That is why a Zaahid is a person whose heart is not attached to Dunya. The heart not being attached to Dunya does not mean that he does not eat, drink or get married. These things do not prevent a person from becoming Zaahid because the greatest Zaahid was Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) has also eaten and drunk and had several wives. Therefore, this is not contrary to Zuhd.
