Knowledge

'I'lm, ‘Ulama and Qiyaamah

According to the Hadith of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), when Qiyaamah will approach, 'I'lm (the knowledge of Deen) will be lifted and it will be replaced by ignorance. The rate of Zina will increase. People will drink a lot of alcohol.

Destination, energy, orientation and will

A wise person is a person who has a goal in life. This goal is his destination. To reach his destination, he needs two things:

1. The energy that will make him move and

2. The orientation that will direct him towards his destination.

The commentary of one who is not Baaligh in Deen:

The time and place of the death of a person is knowledge of Ghaib that no one knows except Allah. Allah Ta’ala says:

"... Neither does it know in which land he will die ..." (31:34)

According to this false story, the Mureed had already come to know that he would die after Zohr. If this is not called attributing the knowledge of Ghaib to another besides Allah, then how can this be explained?

Aa’lim

An Aa’lim is a person who has knowledge in a certain field. In common language, an Aa’lim means a person who has a certain amount of knowledge in Deen that he has acquired in a professional manner under the professionals.

A true Aa’lim is a person who has learned Deen in a professional way and he has the fear of Allah Ta’ala that makes him practice his Deen with full sincerity. According to this definition, there are many Aa'lim in the literal sense but very few real Aa'lim.

Knowledge of Deen

"The one who seeks the knowledge (of Deen) in order to parade with / show off the Ulama or to argue with the fools or to attract the attention of people towards him, Allah Ta’ala will put him into the fire (hell)." (Tirmizi)

Explanation:

Dishonesty or fraud

A person may have passed his exams on paper but when it comes to practice, he may fail to apply what he has learned. This may be due to lack of will or due to the matter being to his disadvantage. Neglecting something good for such reasons is reprehensible. For example, he knows that it is not permissible to consume certain food. Even on exam paper also, he may have explained it in detail and with proof, but when that dish is served to him on the table, he cannot resist.

The status of an Aa'lim in the society

An Aa'lim in the society is like iron rods used in construction or like the spine in the body. Although a lion in the yard may be dormant, it still serves as a means to prevent invaders from invading that yard. It is a means of protection, a security and a guarantee. In the same way, an Aa'lim is a guarantee for the smooth running of a society in regards to Deen. His mere presence means a lot. He may seem motionless but due to his presence, many people wanting to commit evil will not do so.
