Knowledge

True knowledge

The weakness of the Ummah is found rather in the lack of belief which is due to lack of knowledge. Otherwise, there is no shortage of people on this earth who have B.A, M.A, Ph.D or other great degrees. But despite this, at times they do not understand that true knowledge is not acquired through books or by acquiring degrees. It is found in acquiring a "Nur" that penetrates the heart and eliminates all doubts from the heart. And this knowledge is attained by learning Deen through pious and sincere people.

Claiming to know

Someone who claims to know what he does not know will always remain ignorant even if he puts himself in the rank of those who know. Because a person who truly knows in reality understands that that he in fact does not know.

A true connoisseur

A person who really has knowledge is a person who, by virtue of acquiring knowledge, comes to know how much he does not know. He finds that which he knows compare to that which he does not know as if he does not know. And this makes him bow with his soul and body in front of the true connoisseur, Allah Ta'ala who knows everything. In return of his humility, Allah Ta'ala honours him and grants him knowledge which is not found in books. It is such a knowledge which makes him see what others cannot see.

The biggest fool

A branch that is well loaded will always bend. And an empty barrel will make noise more than necessary. If this is true, then it is also true that people who really have something in their person, will always be humble. And in principle, it is a person who has absolutely nothing in him who tends to speak a lot, to make others believe that he is superb. The one, who thinks that he is superb and that no one can harm him in any way, is harming himself greatly. This is because if he has been saved from Insaan, he will not be saved from Allah Ta'ala.

Allah knows best

"A (true) A’lim is not ashamed to say that Allah Ta’ala knows best when he does not know something." (Hazrat Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu)) Musannaf Abdur Razzaaq

[English version of "Allah pli conné" – Al Jamiat – Vol.5 No.6]

Speaking about things that you don't know

If someone inquires some information on Deen from you under the impression that you know it, then it is your duty not to deceive him if you do not know. You should refer him to someone else who knows. You should not feel shy to do such. Acknowledging that you don't know is part of the knowledge of Deen. Pretending to know something that you do not know is ignorance and a very advanced sign of stupidity. It is purely transgression to induce people in error concerning a subject that you have not mastered. The abode of the transgressors is the fire of hell.

Respect for the 'Ulama

Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) qualified the ‘Ulama as the heirs of the prophets. The ‘Ulama are the heirs of the prophets in the sense that they should carry out Deeni work and continue the mission of Da’wah which Nabi (Sallallaahu A’laihi Wasallam) initiated. So, those who carry out the work of Da’wah according to the principle of Deen, deserve to be respected.
