The status of an Aa'lim in the society

An Aa'lim in the society is like iron rods used in construction or like the spine in the body. Although a lion in the yard may be dormant, it still serves as a means to prevent invaders from invading that yard. It is a means of protection, a security and a guarantee. In the same way, an Aa'lim is a guarantee for the smooth running of a society in regards to Deen. His mere presence means a lot. He may seem motionless but due to his presence, many people wanting to commit evil will not do so.

Connaissance de Deen

The knowledge of Deen is so valuable and meritorious that Allah Ta'ala recommended Nabi (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) to make Dua for its increase. This is a sign and an indication that Allah Ta'ala is satisfied with the person whom He granted the understanding and knowledge of Deen.

A person is favoured in numerous ways. The knowledge of Deen is one of the favours that make a person worthy of envy. According to a Hadith, Nabi (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) said:

A wheel is missing

We take medicine and exercise to keep the heart healthy. But there are still other things that we are not doing. We are not treating the heart against diseases such as jealousy, pride, hatred, etc. That is why the treatment is incomplete. That is why the machinery of the society is not working well. There is a wheel which is missing.

Casino

The casino turns a person into a thief and this represents a great danger and an insecurity towards the general public. What will a government or a state get by promoting casinos other than making the poor poorer!

Speaking about an 'Aa'lim without knowledge

When you speak about an 'Aa'lim without knowledge, it’s certain that you do not accrue any reward. However, you have two options: either you are spared or become trapped – becoming trapped is more certain.

Respect for the 'Ulama

Nabi (Sallallaahu A’laihi Wasallam) qualified the ‘Ulama as the heirs of the prophets. The ‘Ulama are the heirs of the prophets in the sense that they should carry out Deeni work and continue the mission of Da’wah which Nabi (Sallallaahu A’laihi Wasallam) initiated. So, those who carry out the work of Da’wah according to the principle of Deen, deserve to be respected.

The Nur of Nubuwwat and Wilaayat

Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is the greatest Nabi (prophet).  Nubuwwat (Prophethood) is granted by Allah.  It is an extraordinary Nur.

Despite this fact, many people were unable to perceive his (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Nubuwwat.  Just in Makkah alone, the Mushrikeen (Polytheists) were unable to perceive this Nur and acknowledge him as a Nabi.  This was the case with the adversaries.
